All instrumentation schedules are initially blocked out in 7 day units associated with a Principal Investigator's last name or institute name (e.g. Bax Group, NHLBI). The first day that a group name appears in the schedule overview , members of that group may start scheduling at 12:00 noon. Group members may continue to sign up for time until 12:00 noon on the day of the next changeover.
All shared instruments change hands at 12:00 noon on the day that a new group is to take over. Please complete your liquid nitrogen fills and backup ("do_full") before passing the instrument to the next group. Record your N2 fill, do_full, & the He level on the calendar provided at each instrument.
NMR time negotiations (trades or donations)
Within a group or institute, individual users are responsible for sign-up and negotiation of NMR time.
Time trades (e.g. Bax week swapped for Clore week) should be negotiated between group representatives.
If you won't be using your time, contact Dusty Baber with your group name, instrument name and dates available.
If you notice that an instrument is idle and you would like to use it, please contact a representative of the group who is scheduled to use it and inquire about it's availability. (Representatives are listed on this page.) DO NOT JUST START USING THE INSTRUMENT!!
Instructions for reserving time are available at individual instrument web pages:
Helium Fill blocks will be scheduled in advance on the electronic calendars. The anticipated week of a Helium fill will be posted on the the schedule overview.
A listing of SPECTROMETER PARAMETER LIMITS associated with routine experimental set-up should be reviewed if you are new to the NIH NMR Groups. Failure to use these guidelines may result in damage to instrumentation and loss of your user privileges!!
