Structure-based design of gp41 targeted HIV-1 envelope-mediated cell fusion inhibitors II

Covalent trimers of the internal N-terminal trimeric coiled-coil of gp41 and antibodies directed against them are potent inhibitors of HIV envelope-mediated cell fusion

Design of covalently linked trimers derived from the N-terminal helices of gp41

Covalently linked trimers derived from the N-terminal trimeric coiled-coil of gp41 are highly potent fusion inhibitors which target the expsoed C-region in the pre-hirpin intermediate state

A tightly binding antibody fraction purified from polyclonal antibodies directed against N35CCG-N13 is a very potent inhibitor of fusion and is targeted against the internal trimeric coiled-coil of gp41 in the pre-hairpin intermediate state.
